Maternity & Newborn

Care from the Very First Days

Maternity nurses, newborn care specialists, and night nannies — placed with the same rigour and discretion as every Private Signature placement.

The Earliest Weeks Deserve the Finest Care

The arrival of a new baby is one of the most significant moments in a family's life. It is also one of the most demanding. The right professional support during the post-natal period can make an extraordinary difference — to the wellbeing of mother and baby, and to the confidence of the whole family.

Private Signature Care places maternity nurses, newborn care specialists, and night nannies who are not only highly qualified and experienced, but who understand the particular needs of private households. They are discreet, professional, and genuinely devoted to the families they serve.

The Roles We Place

01

Maternity Nurses

Round-the-clock post-natal care for mother and baby

A maternity nurse is a specialist who provides dedicated, continuous care for mother and newborn during the critical post-natal period — typically the first four to twelve weeks. They are present around the clock, supporting feeding (breast or bottle), establishing routines, monitoring the baby's health and development, and offering reassurance and guidance to new parents.

Ideal for: Families welcoming their first child, multiple births, or any family who wishes to have expert, dedicated support from the very first hours at home.

What they do

  • 24-hour care for mother and newborn
  • Feeding support — breastfeeding and bottle
  • Establishing sleep and feeding routines
  • Monitoring newborn health and development
  • Post-natal support and reassurance for parents
  • Light nursery duties and baby laundry
02

Newborn Care Specialists

Expert focus on the baby's routines, feeding, and development

A newborn care specialist focuses exclusively on the baby — working closely with parents to establish feeding schedules, sleep routines, and developmental milestones. Unlike a maternity nurse, their primary focus is the infant rather than the mother's post-natal recovery, making them ideal for families who have already received medical support and now wish to focus on establishing a settled, confident routine.

Ideal for: Families who have already received post-natal medical care and wish to focus on establishing confident, consistent routines for their newborn.

What they do

  • Establishing and maintaining newborn routines
  • Feeding guidance and schedule management
  • Sleep training and settling techniques
  • Developmental milestone monitoring
  • Parent education and confidence building
  • Nursery preparation and organisation

Night Nannies

Overnight care so parents can rest and recover

A night nanny provides dedicated overnight care for the baby, managing all night feeds, settling, and any night-time needs so that parents can sleep and be fully present during the day. They typically work from around 10pm to 7am, and their presence can make a profound difference to the wellbeing of the whole family during the exhausting early weeks.

Ideal for: Parents who need to maintain their own professional or family commitments during the day, or who are experiencing significant sleep deprivation in the early weeks.

What they do

  • Overnight care from approximately 10pm–7am
  • All night feeds — breast milk, expressed milk, or formula
  • Settling and soothing the baby through the night
  • Keeping a night log for parents
  • Light nursery tidying and bottle preparation
  • Handover briefing each morning
